While you can get a friend, a sibling or even a parent to take your digitals on a smartphone, there is nothing like getting them professionally taken. Whether you are a new model, or have been in the game for a while, models can always use someone who understands their angles behind the digitals, that makes sure there isn’t harsh light or shadows in your face. An investment into high-quality digitals is an investment into your modeling future. You can use your digitals as a freelance model, or to get yourself scouted by a modeling agency. I have had models who’ve made this investment get signed to big agencies (ie: Hive Model Management, New Icon, etc).

+ What are digitals/Why are they important?

Modeling digitals are essentially photos that represent you in your natural state. Modeling digitals allow casting agents, photographers and makeup artists to see what you look like as a blank canvas and to see if you fit the projects that they are working on.

+ How often should I update my digitals?

Your digitals should be updated and represent how you currently look. A general guide is, update your digitals every 6 months. You should also change them when you make drastic changes to your physical appearance. If you have a new hairstyle (hair cut, color change, no more braids, etc), new tattoos or a change in weight, you should be updating your digitals.

+ Are the photos edited?

The photos aren’t retouched, but the lighting and composition may be adjusted through a light edit.

+ What should I wear?

Different modeling agencies ask for different things, but the general consensus is wearing something that emphasizes your silhouette (ie: tube top, skinny jeans, leggings, bikini, form fitted tee, etc). All black is usually idea, but you can always go for denim and a form fitted white tee. It really depends on how you choose to represent yourself.

+ Should I wear makeup?

In my honest opinion, it’s entirely up to you. There are some agencies that let you get away with light makeup, and I mean VERY LIGHT makeup, but a lot of them ask for no makeup at all. Casting agents look through so many photos, they can tell when someone is wearing makeup or not. You want to optimize your chances and use these photos for as many castings and bookings as possible, so if you wear makeup, keep it MINIMAL!

+ How should I wear my hair?

Your hair should be neat and not covering your cheeks. As far as hairstyles re concerned, that’s a part of YOUR look. Whether you’re rocking locs and braids or you are #baldgang, that is entirely up to you and what makes you, YOU.

+ What angles do I get?

Different casting agents and modeling agencies ask for different photos. Some only allow you to submit a full body and a headshot, while others allow you to submit 10 photos. Because we want you to be able to use these photos as much as you’d like, I get as many of the angles as possible, as well as any specific shots you’d like to get! (ie: headshot, full body, 3/4, 3/4 profile, etc).

+ Where do we take them?

I have a few outdoor locations near me, in which we can get foolproof digitals every time, but we can take them wherever you'd like! A nice wall, or rooftop without harsh lighting is always ideal. Some models also like to invest in a studio with natural light, but the choice is entirely up to you!

+ How can I print the digitals?

If you purchase the package that comes with the printable comp card, it is an 8.5 x 11” document where you can print it from any staples, or anywhere else that prints images.
